Sunday’s walk will take you past Kiddie Park, opened in 1925 and (it claims)  the oldest children’s amusement park in the country. Many of the original rides are still operational but don’t worry: it was completely refurbished in 2009. The jewel in the crown is the hand-carved Herschell Spillman carousel. You can look, but the rides are for children age 1-12.

In case you’re wondering, the world’s oldest amusement park still in operation is Dyrehavsbakken, about 10 km north of Copenhagen, which opened in 1583.

It’s on the edge of Brackenridge Park, at the corner of Mulberry and Broadway. Off-season hours are 10am-7pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
