After a number of violent crimes that occurred in the community, several Duluthians saw a need to address the community healing through commemorative artwork. The sculpture is a cast bronze of several forearms and hands which at the top rest a dove, with wings uplifted and ready to fly. The hands spring from two dolomite columns sent from Germany by Heer, and the ancient rock symbolizes the earth. It was installed in Lake Place Park above the Lakewalk in 1999. The artists are Carla Stetson and Almut Heer.
