This monument commemorates the 5th World Plowing Match held near Peebles in 1957. The monument, placed by the local Lion’s Club, is an exact replica of a 12th century European plow. Many countries, including Northern Ireland, Sweden, Germany and New Zealand came together peaceably for a common purpose. The event grounds covered 2,000 acres spread over 17 farms.
