This statue by Cuauhtémoc Zamudio, a gift from our sister city of Monterrey, Mexico in 1992, was removed from HemisFair Park more than a decade ago when extensive renovations began in the park Now, it’s beautifully sited in front of the Instituto Cultural de Mexico, the first thing you see when you get out of the car park to visit Yanaguana Gardens.
Monterrey in Nuevo Leon, was the first Mexican city to enter a sister city relationship, with San Antonio in 1953. La Puerta: Mi Casa Es Tu Casa (The Door: My House is Your House) by Diane Calvillo de Chapa, was also donated by San Antonio’s sister city of Monterrey, Mexico in 1992 and installed in HemisFair Park.
